Theme: Healthy and Unhealthy habits

 
Learning Outcomes 
-Make healthy and informed decisions.
-To look after our bodies-this is very important for us as human being.

Resources
-Learners bring actual examples of healthy and unhealthy eating products.
-This will help their understanding and to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy

Introduction Phase 
At the beginning of the lesson give the learners a question and answer sessions on healthy and unhealthy habits. Touch on the learners prior knowledge. The educator will have an understanding of what learners know about healthy and unhealthy habits. This also includes hygiene and how you present yourself. Such as keeping yourself neat and tidy and taking a daily bath ,these are also healthy and unhealthy habits and not only eating habits.

Teaching and learning phase 
Healthy and unhealthy habits are very important in children while growing up. Children at a young age should be taught about hygiene and eating healthy foods which are high in nutrition and calcium for the development of the brain and strong bones and teeth. Explain healthy and unhealthy habits on a chart, show the learners what are healthy and unhealthy foods and good hygiene habits. Learners could come in front of the class and point out which are healthy and unhealthy habits. As the educator will have a brief understanding on what the learners have understood. Also explain to the learners unhealthy and over eating in children can cause obesity. Many children are consuming too much of unhealthy foods which are high in sugar and fats.Therefore children now days are suffering from diabetes, from the high in take of sugar. Children that eat the wrong types of foods are unable to concentrate in school. the foods they are consuming are high in sugar and this keeps children hyperactive therefore they can not concentrate. After the learners have understood everything what was explained, hand out worksheets to the learners on the lesson taught. Have pictures to show healthy and unhealthy habits and the learners could tick in the correct box with reference to the picture. Learners will be called to the front of the class to come and categorize healthy and unhealthy types of foods.


Assessment Task
Learners will be assessed by means of Direct observing and how well they complete the worksheet.

Concluding Phase
Healthy and unhealthy habits is not only eating habits but also includes how you live your life and bad habits.Ask learners how they felt about the lesson and if they enjoyed it.End of the lesson with a song "If you happy and you know it clap your hands".
